Linking Learning Between the Home and the Classroom: Progress Reports
Every two weeks, teachers report on your child’s learning with progress reports. Our progress reports provide you up-to-date information about your child’s academic progress. Talking with your child about his or her learning is an important part of supporting your child at school.
Here are three steps we recommend to guide your conversation with your child about grades:
- Connect the Grades to Learning in Class
- What did you learn about the last 2 weeks?
- What can you do now that you could not do before?
- What was something that was really challenging for you?
- Reflect with the student
- Where did this grade come from?
- Is this the grade you thought you were going get?
- What could you have done better?
- What do you need help with?
- Next Steps: Make a Plan!
- Do you need to have a conversation with your teacher? When?
- What videos or games can we play at home to help support you with ____?
- What topics or skills from this past week would you like to learn more about?
- What can we do to help you stay organized with your assignments? (How are you using your agenda?)
