REMEMBER ATTENDANCE!!
Now that many of the students have gotten over the flu- it is important to remember that students must be in school!  Our attendance has dipped under 97%, lower than it has been in four years.  Our goal is to get it to 98%!  If we keep our daily average to five or less students….we will be on track for our goal.  Only you can help us!!

Attendance at school is important for so many reasons.  Studies show that students with higher GPAs and higher standardized test scores are the students who have missed less than two days a month.  At Casas, we focus on providing students every opportunity to be successful.  Thank you for supporting us!  Be on the lookout for upcoming attendance challenges!

Attendance is going to be especially important now that our PARCC window is open.  As you may remember, PARCC is our state standardized assessment that our students in grades 3-8 will complete.  These tests are long and require multiple sessions.  It will be imperative that all students are in school every day and on time.

We have our Crusading POMS meeting on Tuesday, March 6th at 8:15 at Casas.  We are looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Our outstanding 8th graders have been working with on a special school-wide campaign called “We Create Change”- with the goal of raising $250 dollars to buy goats for families in Africa.  This is part of a global campaign sponsored by We Charities.  You can learn more at:

https://www.we.org/we-schools/program/campaigns/

We are excited to announce that we have officially raised over $400 to help families in Africa become economically independent!  The amount raised will buy goats for eight families….thank you all for your generous donation of change!

As a reminder- keep in mind that although the letter grade may not seem important, it is the letter grades that largely determine opportunities students will have in the future.  If you are ever curious about a grade on Progress Reports, tests, or even projects, make sure to contact the classroom teacher and schedule a meeting.  Every member of the Dream Team at Casas is dedicated to our student’s success.

Please remember that PE is on Tuesdays and Thursdays!

DENTAL FORMS are due!  Please make sure to send your students with the most paperwork from the most recent check-ups!  These can be submitted to Ms. Ramirez in the Main Office.

As always, please call the Main Office with any updates to contact information or pick-up, drop-off routines:312-432-3224.

We are the Casas Crusaders-small, but MIGHTY!
