REMEMBER ATTENDANCE!!
Now that many of the students have gotten over the flu, it is important to remember that students must be in school!  Our attendance has dipped under 97%, lower than it has been in four years.  Our goal is to get it to 98%!  If we keep our daily average to five or less absent students….we will be on track for our goal.  Only you can help us!!

Attendance at school is important for so many reasons.  Studies show that students with higher GPAs and higher standardized test scores are the students who have missed less than two days a month.  At Casas, we focus on providing students every opportunity to be successful.  Thank you for supporting us!  Be on the lookout for upcoming attendance challenges!

During this upcoming week, we will be announcing our students who made Principal and Assistant Principal Honor Roll for Quarter 1 and Quarter 2.  We will also be announcing students who have maintained a 100% attendance rate.  Announcements will be made over the speaker each day and students will receive a certificate to take home with them.

As mentioned, our outstanding 8th graders have been working with on a special school-wide campaign called “We Create Change”- with the goal of raising $250 dollars to buy goats for families in Africa.  This is part of a global campaign sponsored by We Charities.  You can learn more at:

We are excited to announce that we have raised over $400 to help families become economically independent in Africa!  That will buy a goat for eight families….thank you all for your generous donations of change!  Classrooms that met their goal will get a dress down day...more information to follow.

Learn English for Free!!  City Colleges of Chicago will be hosting an information session at two of our Acero Schools on Monday, February 26th to learn more about the program.  Please see the website calendar for more details.

On Wednesday, February 28th, we will be measuring our kindergarteners and eighth graders for their cap and gown.

Also, on Wednesday, February 28th, we will be closing out our last FUTURE Leader value: Respect.  This month it has been wonderful seeing all of the students demonstrating respect towards each other and their teachers.

There is a FUTURE Parent Meeting on Thursday, March 1st, at 5:00.  This will be the second part of the three part series about asking the “right” questions.  If you missed the first one...don’t worry!  You can still attend this one...all are welcome!

As a reminder- keep in mind that although the letter grade may not seem important, it is the letter grades that largely determine opportunities students will have in the future.  If you are ever curious about a grade on Progress Reports, tests, or even projects, make sure to contact the classroom teacher and schedule a meeting.  Every member of the Dream Team at Casas is dedicated to our student’s success.

Please remember that PE is on Tuesdays and Thursdays!

DENTAL FORMS are due!  Please make sure to send your students with the most paperwork from the most recent check-ups!  These can be submitted to Ms. Ramirez in the Main Office.

As always, please call the Main Office with any updates to contact information or pick-up, drop-off routines:312-432-3224.

We are the Casas Crusaders-small, but MIGHTY!
