Crusading with the Principal

#17

1.19.18

With two weeks of 2018 under our belt, it is important that we remind ourselves the importance of student attendance!  Studies show that students who miss two days a month are more likely to NOT meet key developmental academic benchmarks (including not graduating from high school), than their peers who attend school daily.  You can find more information here:

http://www.attendanceworks.org/chronic-absence/the-problem/

http://absencesaddup.org/importance-of-school-attendance/

We know that many of our absences for these past two weeks was due to illness, however, please remember that our school year calendar is designed to have the longer vacations throughout the year.  Please keep this in mind as you consider making your vacation plans.

If you subscribed to our website calendar, you will see ACCESS testing is starting next week.  ACCESS testing is taken by all of our students who do not speak English as a first language OR it has been indicated that they speak more than one language at home.  The purpose of this test is to measure a student’s level of English language proficiency.  Please remind your student to try their best when they take this test.  When students reach a specific level of proficiency, they no longer need to take the assessment.

Next Friday is the end of Quarter 2.  Grades will be finalized.  Please make sure you are encouraging your student(s) to complete any missing work...especially if they were out sick (or on an extended vacation). This is important in order for grades to accurately reflect student mastery of their learning.

As always, please call the Main Office with any updates to contact information or pick-up, drop-off routines: 312-882-9167.

We are the Casas Crusaders-small, but MIGHTY!
